After their first series defeat since that business in 2005, there are many questions being asked of Australia’s cricketers, and their captain in particular. Accusations of a lack of mental (and testicular) strength are not often levelled at Australia, but they are facing such accusations now. There are a number of questions that need answering:
- Is it time for Ponting to go? The recent over-rate controversy may prove to be the final straw. After all, how long can the Australian captain can survive claims that he has behaved in an ‘un-Australian’ manner?
- How much did the tourists miss Andrew Symonds?
- Is the spectre of Shane Warne going to continue to haunt Australia (especially given their weak spin bowling options at the moment)?
