The IPL has its first hat-trick

Lakshmipathy Balaji has taken the IPL’s first hat-trick (youtube highlights here).

After a long period of dominance of the competition by the batsmen, it seems the bowlers are getting their own back.

I have seen Balaji play in the school grounds of chennai with a tennis ball. This is how he used to bowl there – take a short run-up and either bounce it or bowl the slower ones.

While it works well for T20 cricket, much waits to be seen how his body holds up and if he could make it back to the national side.
