The ICL is now underway for its second season, to a mere fraction of the fanfare which has greeted every minor announcement regarding the rival IPL.
Chris Read, who played in the ICL last season for the Chennai Superstars, is worried that he’ll be left out in the international cold as a consequence. There’s even talk of legal action if he’s banned from playing for England in the future, although he’s unlikely to be affected by the county cricket ban on ICL involvement, as it won’t be retrospectively enforced.
Meanwhile, the competition has lost one of its major crowd-pullers as Brian Lara has been ruled out with a fractured left arm.
